About this event

We have been supporting Blackdog Outdoors since 2021 and have raised over £3000 from coffee sales so they can host free events like this to encourage people to reconnect with the great outdoors for better mental health and wellbeing.

Many of their events are introductory adult-only events aimed at:

  • People new to the activity
  • People that used to spend time in the outdoors but, for whatever reason, have lost the confidence to do so
  • People that are looking to meet like-minded people so that they can plan their own adventures

Event Details

This is one of our more relaxed social events. Starting a Bold in Hest Bank, we will follow the Lancashire Way to Bolton-le-Sands before returning back to the store via Lancaster Canal path.  The walk will give us excellent views across Morecambe Bay and plenty of opportunity to take photos.  We will then return to our vehicles at Bold for a free beverage and social time to complete the event!

Expected Terrain –  Rocky paths, some steep walking, and muddy tracks are to be expected following any periods of rain. There is also a short section of road walking. Due to the rocky and steep terrain, this walk is unfortunately inaccessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs and those with limited mobility.

Event Distance Approx 9 km
Approx Activity Duration 3  hours
Friendly dogs on leads are allowed at this event

About this event

Our aim, at Blackdog Outdoors, is to promote outdoor recreation as a means of improving mental health and well-being. Many of our events are introductory adult-only events aimed at:

  • People new to the activity
  • People who used to spend time in the outdoors but, for whatever reason, have lost the confidence to do so
  • People who are looking to meet like-minded people so that they can plan their own adventures

Why should we do Outdoor Activities?

The role of sport and recreation in improving mental health is now becoming increasingly clear. The effects of outdoor activities can include stress reduction, improved mood, improved self-esteem and improved health and general well-being. The real challenge lies in promoting the idea of “green exercise” to those who will benefit from it, providing opportunities for those people to take up outdoor activities, and supporting and encouraging them as they set out on their individual adventures. We have established Blackdog Outdoors to provide this service.
